We were delighted to welcome Ash Regan MSP and her team to St George’s Tron, Glasgow, last night, to hear about the progress of the Unbuyable (Prostitution (Offences and Support) (Scotland)) Bill, and about why it is so badly needed.
Stuart Weir from CARE for Scotland also spoke, along with our own Karen Miller, and the evening was ably hosted by Chris Ringland from Evangelical Alliance Scotland.

Some of the information shared was very hard hitting, including the ways in which girls and women are tricked, trapped or forced into prostitution, and the sickening words of real sex buyers who simply don’t care whether the ‘sex worker’ servicing them has a choice about it. There was good discussion after the speeches, with questions from the floor followed by chatting over coffee and tea.
We’re grateful to God (and to everyone that helped and prayed!) that the event went off well, but this is not the end of the story. The timetable to get the Unbuyable Bill through the Scottish Parliament is very tight. We would encourage you to take whatever actions you can to support the bill:
- Contact your MSP asking them to support the bill
- Tell your friends and family about the issue
- Pray for the bill, and for the protection of those pushing it forward.
As Stuart Weir said,
“It would be a genuine tragedy if yet another parliamentary session was to conclude without any definite action to criminalise this recognised form of violence against women and girls.”
So please, do what you can to support the bill, and protect women and girls from sexual exploitation!
